ああっ女神さまっVolume 40 Chapter 255
Ah! My Goddess Ch. 255 Manga
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Belldandy splits herself into eight pieces to allow her chibi-selves to take breaks during the song. Ebony figures that despite the fact she missed her best chance to take Belldandy out, they cannot defeat her since each chibi-Belldandy has only 1/8th the power of the original. Keiichi responds with his belief that they can defeat her, which amuses Ebony. However, a sneak brush-over by Glühendes Herz roars takes Ebony by surprise.
Keiichi states his belief that Glühendes Herz will eventually hit Ebony, which she rejects since she can see the broom. However, she’s surprised when her attempt to side-step Glühendes Herz’s approach and still gets grazed. She moves faster but she still takes a hit. She realizes that she can’t see the broom and that it is traveling supersonic speed. As such, her “seeing” the sound is actually a type of after-image as Glühendes Herz will have already moved from there. Realizing she cannot defeat Glühendes Herz, who is doing something that should be impossible, Ebony drops her field of darkness and concedes.
Thoughts/Review: So, Belldandy’s splitting allows her to keep a constant barrier up but also shape the barrier so that Ebony could not get in the center. Makes sense.
I’d figured that there would be a solution to defeating Ebony featuring sound, but I hadn’t figured on Glühendes Herz going supersonic in such a relatively small area. Fujishima-sensei acknowledges the impossibility of this, but basically tells the audience to “not worry about it” by simply having Glühendes Herz tell Keiichi that even when Hild rides Glühendes Herz, the broom isn’t going all out. What that has to do with supersonic flight and turns in a small area is beyond me, which is why I say this is Fujishima-sensei’s way of addressing the physics problem and sweeping it aside. Glühendes Herz is a special, magical broom! *lol*
Well, now that Ebony is down, I suppose that next up is to revive Skuld and Urd, have Belldandy combine, and move to the next encounter.
Otherwise, there’s not a whole lot I can think of to comment on. ^_^; Well, all I can do is move to the next chapter, whenever that is.
The only physics problem is how durable Glühendes Herz is and how much thrust he can provide (including the amount for steering).
Those two parameters being stratospheric is hardly a hand-wave. The only point is that while Glühendes Herz can take it, not even Hild can take it apparently.
Well in such a small space, such supersonic turns shouldn’t be possible, but Glühendes Herz can perform them so… ^_^
I hadn’t considered the possibility that Hild might not be able to handle Glühendes Herz going full throttle. I guess I just read it as she’d never pushed him to the max and so he’d never gone all out. Interesting possibility though.
That’s the thing, there’s physically no reason why any particular object can’t go supersonic in an enclosed area.
The only issues are acceleration (both the turning and speed versions) and the durability to withstand such. If you have something that can do both the acceleration (turning and increasing speed) and withstand it, then it becomes a given.
